unknown people

The following 5 paintings are from the series "portraits of unknown people" From the beginning of my practice when ever I wanted to just relax I would draw or paint a little piece often just the bust of a person. People often have mused that they seem like real people and I have noticed that they never look the same. (some artists always draw or paint the same looking person over and over). So one day I quipted to a visitor that they are portraits of unknown people. They chuckled, so it became the name of the series. These 5 have been done since starting up my new studio in early December, 2007.

where the work is going

The following three or four pieces were done in 2007, they were the results of new thinking, a seminar in Titian like painting which revealed secrets I had been trying to solve for decades and some conclusions after the months of toil and experiments whitch had left my head spinning in many directions. I hope to continue with this and few other ideas in 2008 now that I am getting settled into the new studio. I have three main bodies of work, "portraits of unknown people", "myths and fairy tales" and "the I hate Yellow show".

Notes along the way

These pieces were done largely in the year 2006, rather then a specific body of work they are to me notes of many ideas I explored along the way to making a serious attempt at getting gallery representation in Santa Fe New Mexico. The work in 2007 was the beginning of making two or three distinct bodies of work. This work was cut short in Febuary as Jill K. and I bought a house in Santa Fe and the rest of the year I was busy with that. 2008 finds me starting the studio up again and trying to build a new construction bussiness to pay for the whole thing. http://www.casacoyotecarpentryandtile.com
